Summary

Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, was known as "The Professor" for his mastery of all forms of ninjutsu in the Hidden Leaf. A direct student of both the First and Second Hokage, Hiruzen was appointed as the Third Hokage at a young age by Tobirama's dying wish during the First Great Ninja War. He led Konoha through two world wars and decades of relative peace, training the Legendary Sannin — Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru — as his students. His deepest regret was his inability to kill Orochimaru when the Sannin defected, a mercy that would later cost him his life.

During the Konoha Crush arc, Hiruzen confronted his former student Orochimaru and the reanimated First and Second Hokage. Unable to defeat them by conventional means, the aging Hiruzen used the Reaper Death Seal — the same technique Minato would use — to seal Orochimaru's arms, sacrificing his own soul to protect the village. This act, coming at the end of a long and distinguished life, embodied the will of fire. During the Fourth War, Hiruzen was reanimated and fought alongside the other Hokage, providing wisdom and guidance from beyond the grave.
