Summary
Iruka Umino is the Academy instructor who changed Naruto Uzumaki's life. Orphaned himself during the Nine-Tails' attack on Konoha, Iruka understood Naruto's loneliness and pain better than anyone. Despite initially sharing the village's resentment toward the demon fox's host, Iruka became the first person to acknowledge Naruto as a human being — not as the Nine-Tails' container, but as a student of the Hidden Leaf. His tearful defense of Naruto against Mizuki and his declaration that Naruto was one of his precious students was the moment that gave Naruto his first real bond.
Though not a frontline fighter, Iruka's role as the moral anchor for generations of Konoha shinobi is immeasurable. He serves as a father figure to Naruto, standing in for Naruto's late father Minato at Naruto and Hinata's wedding. In Boruto, Iruka has become the Head Instructor at the Academy, continuing to shape the next generation with the same compassion and dedication that saved Naruto from a life of hatred.
