Might Guy is Konoha's foremost taijutsu master and the living embodiment of the philosophy that hard work can surpass natural genius. The son of Might Duy — a genin who was mocked as the "Eternal Genin" — Guy inherited his father's unshakeable belief in the power of youth and relentless training. Though initially unable to use ninjutsu or genjutsu like his father, Guy developed into the most powerful taijutsu specialist in shinobi history through sheer determination. His self-imposed rivalry with Kakashi Hatake, largely one-sided but deeply meaningful to Guy, became legendary.

Guy's mastery of the Eight Inner Gates Formation — a forbidden technique that removes the body's chakra limiters at the cost of catastrophic physical damage — represents the peak of human physical achievement. Opening all Eight Gates grants power exceeding that of the Five Kage combined. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, when Madara Uchiha had become the Ten-Tails' jinchuriki and no other shinobi could challenge him, Guy opened the Gate of Death and unleashed the Night Guy technique — a kick that bent space itself and nearly killed the strongest being in existence. Madara himself declared Guy the greatest taijutsu user he had ever faced.

Guy survived the war thanks to Naruto's Yang Seal intervention, but his right leg was permanently shattered.
