Summary
Tsunade Senju is the Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, one of the Legendary Sannin, and the greatest medical-nin in the history of the shinobi world. The granddaughter of the First Hokage Hashirama Senju and grandniece of the Second Hokage Tobirama, Tsunade was destined for greatness but was scarred by devastating personal losses. Her younger brother Nawaki and her lover Dan Kato both died pursuing their dreams of becoming Hokage, leaving Tsunade disillusioned with the title and developing a crippling fear of blood. She abandoned Konoha and spent years as a wandering gambler, earning a reputation as the "Legendary Sucker" for her terrible luck.
Naruto Uzumaki rekindled Tsunade's will of fire. His determination to become Hokage and his mastery of the Rasengan in just one week convinced Tsunade that dreams were worth believing in again. She returned to Konoha and accepted the mantle of Fifth Hokage, becoming the village's first female leader. Her medical innovations — including the Strength of a Hundred Seal and Creation Rebirth technique — revolutionized battlefield medicine, and she instituted the policy of assigning a medical-nin to every team.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Tsunade fought on the front lines alongside the other Kage against Madara Uchiha.
