Jiraiya, the Toad Sage and one of the Legendary Sannin, was one of the most powerful and influential shinobi in history. Trained by the Third Hokage alongside Tsunade and Orochimaru, Jiraiya initially appeared to be a brash, foolish, and perverted loudmouth — but beneath this facade lay profound wisdom, incredible power, and a deep commitment to the dream of world peace. His signature invention, the Rasengan, would become the foundation of Naruto Uzumaki's fighting style and legacy.

During the Second Great Ninja War, Jiraiya trained three orphans in the Hidden Rain Village — Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan — believing Nagato to be the Child of Prophecy. Years later, Nagato would become Pain, using the Rinnegan to pursue a brutal vision of peace through suffering. Jiraiya's investigation of the Akatsuki led him to Amegakure, where he confronted his former student in a climactic battle. Though he discovered Pain's secret — that the Six Paths were corpses controlled by Nagato — Jiraiya was mortally wounded. In his final moments, he etched a coded message onto Fukasaku's back and reflected on his life, concluding that Naruto, not Nagato, was the true Child of Prophecy.

Jiraiya's death was a catalyst for Naruto's growth into sagehood and his eventual confrontation with Pain. His legacy lives on through his books, particularly The Tale of Naruto Uzumaki, which inspired Nagato and later gave Naruto his name.
