Summary
Mitsuki is a synthetic human created by Orochimaru as part of his genetic experiments, designed to be the "perfect being." Unlike previous clones like Log and Mitsuki's predecessors, Mitsuki was given free will and sent to Konoha to discover his own path. He enrolled in the Academy and was placed on Team 7 alongside Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha, where he quickly formed a deep, almost devotional bond with Boruto — referring to him as his "sun" and the guiding light of his existence.
Mitsuki possesses the unique ability to access Sage Mode without the extensive training required by Jiraiya or Naruto. His transformation, known as Snake Sage Mode (Senninka), manifests as a green chakra aura with a horn-like protrusion, dramatically enhancing his speed, strength, and sensory abilities. However, using this power causes his body to break down rapidly, limiting its duration. He also uses extendable limbs, snake-based techniques, and Wind Release jutsu.
Mitsuki's character arc revolves around questions of identity, free will, and the nature of bonds. Unlike Orochimaru's other creations, Mitsuki chose his connection to Boruto and Team 7 independently. In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Mitsuki's devotion to Boruto takes a darker turn when Eida's omnipotence rewrites reality, making Mitsuki believe that Kawaki — not Boruto — is his "sun." In this altered state, Mitsuki becomes hostile toward Boruto, whom he now perceives as an enemy threatening Kawaki. This conflict puts Mitsuki at the heart of the TBV-era drama as he struggles between implanted memories and his true feelings. Mitsuki represents Orochimaru's greatest success — a being who chose love and loyalty over programmed purpose — and his eventual reconciliation with Boruto will be a defining moment of the series.
